Allen,
Greetings from the South seas.
Can you tell me what engine the guys are running now on the B Sport planes?  I read that Novarossi ran on several that have placed.  Are they changing the head clearance on the engine?

The NovaRossi Control Line Racing Engines used for B Proto is the RX21FN/S. This series of engines currently hold 4 of the 5 records for B Proto.

NovaRossi has a very substantial car business and most of the development in done for cars. In the past, the plane versions were typically the low timed car engines with different crankshafts, mufflers and heads. As Novarossi has now branched off the lines, and re-branded their aircraft and heli lines to Rex, we believe this methodology is changing.
Typically the cases are similar since the crank size and bearings are usually the same. The Novarossi Car engines require a different power-band, and this is done typically with many ports in the liner. Rex Aircraft engines look for top speed and a few large ports work seem to work better for maximum power. Also, many speed events do not allow tuned pipes so the timing has to be lower for these engines.
As this year progresses, we hope to see several new developments released for the Rex Engine line.

Speed Times the newletter of the Speed Society has a listing of vendors who sell speed products. The publisher is Barry Tippett btippett@charter.net. He may be able to give you some advise on single bladed props.

The latest in the Novarossi engine long stroke series used in many B Proto and B Sport Speed events is the R PLUS 213 R/T found on the PlanetHobby.com website.
